Message from Jo Fisher

Welcome to the first edition of our new regular newsletter, designed to keep you informed about developments in executive search and employment.

We recognise that your time is extremely valuable so we want to ensure this newsletter is a genuinely useful resource that facilitates the sharing of insights, information and ideas amongst senior executives.

To that end, I hope you will email me directly with suggestions about what you would like to see in future editions. I would also like to hear your feedback about our fresh new website – or for that matter, anything else that’s on your mind.

As always, I look forward to hearing from you.

Green shoots confirmed by increased executive search activity

The decline in executive search activity has stabilised according to the latest State of the Executive Search Industry Report from the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC). Senior executive searches in the technology and financial sectors, which both saw quarterly declines in the last quarter, rose 4 per cent. Similarly, the consumer goods sector witnessed its first green shoot with a 1 per cent increase.

“Second quarter figures confirm that the first six months of this year have been a serious setback for the search industry, but we’re now seeing a levelling off in declines and a slight increase in the number of searches. This indicates that organisations are beginning to pull back from the hiring freeze as senior management gears up for economic recovery,” said AESC President, Peter Felix.

Jo Fisher Executive recognised internationally

Briefly, some news of our own ... we have been recognised internationally recently with an invitation from IMD International Search Group (IMD) to become its exclusive Australian partner. This links us into a worldwide network of 40 offices and adds even more depth and breadth to our global reach.

We have also been admitted as a member of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), the pre-eminent international body for retained executive search firms. Like all of the AESC’s member firms, we recognise the reputation of the executive search profession rests upon the quality and integrity of relationships with clients and candidates. The AESC has rigorous selection criteria and our admission is a key endorsement of our high professional standards.
