Director of Development

Melbourne Grammar School is seeking to appoint an energetic professional to the position of Director of Development. The Director will take the lead role in representing the School and managing relationships with philanthropic donors, corporate partners, government and the community.

With approximately 13,000 engaged past students, past parent and current parents, the Director of Development will continue to develop a culture of philanthropy and to steer the organisation and its group of volunteers through two critical fundraising campaigns, which include a major capital campaign and the further growth of the Indigenous scholarship fund.

Reporting to the Director of Advancement, this position provides executive leadership and support for the Foundation and its members. A strategic approach is required, built on rigorous research, lateral thinking, clear communication and excellent relationships; resulting in major fundraising campaigns being delivered and ongoing income streams identified.

The successful candidate will be an established senior business professional with broad general management skills and a strong capacity to think strategically. You will have demonstrated experience working with boards or foundations and will be skilled in both research and strategic planning. You will have the style and ability to maintain and build strong relationships at all levels in the community with high levels of written and oral communication skills. Importantly you will operate at the highest professional and ethical standards and will have a genuine passion for the work and values of the school.

Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in business management or sales and marketing will be highly regarded.

Founded in 1858, Melbourne Grammar School fosters excellence through learning and leadership and offers an educational experience ranging across intellectual, social, cultural, spiritual and physical pursuits.
